Overview
Crusader is the 2-2 class of the swordsman class, and Paladin is the transcendent variant of the Crusader class. They are capable of dishing out physical and magical damage. They can also tank or be a support, making them a very versatile and fun class to play.
They are perfect for soloing and party play due to the wide variety of their skills.
Crusader Job Change Guide
- Swordsman class with job level above 40 can take the job change quest to become a crusader.
- The crusader guild will then require the player to finish a couple of tests to advance.
- These tests can be skipped if the player’s job level is level 50.
If the player wishes to become a crusader at job level 40, follow the link below for the guide:
Since Episode 16.1, you need to go to the upper right hallway of the Banquet Hall first, and then enter the south room to find the Crusader Office.

Note: If you’re at job level 50, you will be able to skip the quests.
Transcending
Once the player reaches level 99/50 as a crusader, they are now eligible to transcend (rebirth). It is ideal to rebirth because Paladin, the transcendent job of Crusader, will offer more skills and more stats.
Completing the transcendent quest will reward the player with the following:
- The player will be rebirthed back to Level 1/1 High Novice with 100 extra stat points.
- Job level is increased to 70 when you become a Paladin.
- Paladin has more skills.
- Access to gears with the Transcendent only class tag.
- Permanent 25% Increase in HP and SP.
In ROGGH, we have the free transcending patch from kRO. Follow the link below for the guide:
Paladin Job Change Guide
You can become a Paladin once you reach Job level 40 and above as a High Swordsman. Do note that it is ideal to job change at job level 50, so you will not miss any skills.
Head over to Valhalla. Before the room of Valkyrie (Transcending Quest), you will see a group of NPCs. Find and talk to the heavily armored Paladin to job change.
Builds
In this guide, we will only learn the following builds that is the easiest to build and can contribute to party-play or solo efficiently.
- Holy Cross, a build that will utilize the Holy Cross skill for Holy single target damage.
- AGI Crit Spear, a high attack speed critical build.
- Shield, a build that will utilize all the shield skills.
- Sacrifice (Devotion), a build that is commonly used for party-play, such as instances, boss hunting and WoE

- Sacrifice Optional (If you want to support your party, get this)
- Spear Quicken 8-10
This build is one of the best builds a crusader or paladin could ever ask for. It deals high damage even with an NPC weapon such as Lance. However, this build will require a lot of SP recovery items.
Holy cross build will also transition well to royal guard, as the stats is very similar to what you will run for a Vanishing Point oriented build.

- AGI 80-90
- VIT 50-80
- INT 1

With the implementation of skill revamp for 1st to transcendent jobs, Shield Boomerang and Rapid Smiting received a massive rebalance. Making these 2 skills a great way to slay monsters.
As a Crusader, you can grind using Shield Boomerang. If you feel a bit nostalgic, you can also get a linker to make it stronger.
A build that specializes in using Shield Skills. Rapid Smiting is the paladin’s bread and butter, if the user decides to take this route.
Do note that this build will require a high amount of after-cast delay reduction.

Crusaders/Paladins who opts for this build will need HP increasing gears/items to effectively tank the damage your devotee will transfer.
Grand Cross
Stat
- STR 90
- AGI Optional
- VIT 50-90
- INT 50+
- DEX 40-70
- LUK Optional or place the remaining stats here.
Skill Build
- Faith 10
- Grand Cross 10
- Guard 5-10
- Shield Reflect 5-10
- Gloria Domini 5 (Optional)
Grand Cross received a revamp thanks to the revamp of 1st to transcendent job skills.
The fixed cast time of Grand Cross (0.5s), variable cast time (1s), and after-cast delay (0.5s) have been significantly reduced. However, it now comes with a cooldown of 1s. The notorious self-damage feature has been removed, making it more appealing to use.
To further enhance the damage of Grand Cross, the Crusader/Paladin must equip both Imperial Feather and Imperial Ring. The combo states that the damage of Grand Cross is increased by 1% per 1 base level, making the item combo a must-have if you’re serious in building it.
