Introduction
Geneticists are the 3rd job advancement for the Alchemist and Biochemist classes. They further improve their knowledge of chemistry and biology, being able to create many new potions and plant-based catalysts for their abilities. Their carts are also given modifications, making them useful tools in combat and not just accessories for storing items. Once Alchemists and Biochemists have reached Level 99/50 (Job 70 recommended), they become eligible to advance to Geneticist by starting the Geneticist job change quest in Aldebaran and completing it in Lighthalzen. This guide provides all the steps you need.
Job Change Quest

1. Enter the Alchemist Guild building in Aldebaran and speak to the Alchemist Union Member at /navi alde_alche 35/185. Tell him that you want to meet with a Geneticist, to which he will instruct you to go to the Geneticist Guild in Lighthalzen.
2. Make your way to Lighthalzen and enter the Geneticist Guild at /navi lighthalzen 52/132. At this point, the /navi function will not work inside the building. Find and speak to Devries, who gives you the nickname “Popo” and starts talking about Geneticists. Your conversation gets disrupted, as she asks you to go upstairs and get her a cookie.
3. Head upstairs and walk north towards a hallway. To the right, there will be a Delivery Box. Open the box and then take out a cookie from it (not an actual item that appears in your inventory).
4. Make your way back to Devries downstairs and hand her the cookie you got from the Delivery Box. She will ask you to reconfirm if you wish to continue.
Repeat talking to her until she mentions conducting a plant-based experiment for soundproofing (to block the noise her colleague Demi Calberine is making from her own experiments upstairs).
5. Walk towards the cabinet west of Devries and read the Plantguide. Select the “Plants” option, and the guide will teach you how to proceed with the experiment – from gathering the plant materials located in the building, to conducting the actual plant experiment.
6. Proceed to the area near the building’s exit and acquire all of the following plants: Congra, Aolatura, Bigibigigrass, Bogi vine, Muka Tree and Sticky Grass. Refer to the image below for the plants’ locations.
7. Make your way back to the area with the cabinet at the west, and interact with the Testing Table.
Select the following options in order to commence the plant experiment:
- Crush
- Steam
- Repeated Options:
- Put into Testing Flask and Shake
- Dip into Distilled Water
- Inject into Testing Seed
- Select a Testing Seed (any option)
8. Once the experiment is completed, you will receive the Seed for Experiment.
Bring this seed back to Devries, who is amazed at how effective your creation has become. She instructs you to meet Demi Calberine upstairs as she sends a letter of recommendation to the Alchemist Union Member.
9. Make your way upstairs and speak to Demi Calberine. She asks you to search the area and help find 10 Shattered Parts, which will be used on a new cart she is developing.
10. After finding the parts, speak to Demi Calberine again. She instructs you to test the cart by hitting and killing Poison Spores in the caged area downstairs. Agreeing to her request will immediately teleport you inside the pen enclosure.
11. Kill a total of 100 Poison Spores which spawn inside the cage (killing Poison Spores anywhere else will not count). Note that you are not required to kill them by only using Cart Revolution and are free to use any means.
If you die and respawn/move outside of the Poison Spore enclosure, simply speak to Demi Calberine once again to bring you back inside. Once finished, speak to the Sign outside the Poison Spore pen to leave.
12. Make your way back to Devries, who needs you to remove your cart (turn off via character equipment window). She mentions that some mail just arrived.
13. Speak to her again, and she says that the Alchemist Union has approved the recommendation for you. You will then successfully change into a Geneticist and will receive both a Green Apple Ring and Midas Whisper.
14. Alternatively, you can change job into a Geneticist by speaking to the Valhyrie’s Whisper in the Alchemist Guild at /navi alde_alche 45/178 for 25 Nyangvines Fruits. This feature can only be done by Biochemists (not Alchemists), and you will not receive a Midas Whisper and Green Apple Ring upon changing via this method. This can also be done even if you were in the middle of the actual job change quest.
Alternative Job Change

Additional Quest
Now that you have changed into a Geneticist, you have the option to mutate your Lv99 Evolved Homunculus into a Homunculus S, as the quest NPC “Viorel” is also located in the building.
