Introduction
Welcome to the Ranger job change quest guide! The Ranger is the class advancement of the Sniper class. They can now have a Warg as a companion while also possessing a stronger array of bow and trap skills to take on every challenge thrown their way.
To become a Ranger, you must prove your skills and determination through a series of quests. These quests will test your abilities in hunting, setting traps, and making the most of your surroundings.
Requirements
If you meet all these requirements, you can undertake the Ranger Job Change Quest.
- Base level of Sniper is 99
- Job level of Sniper is 70
- All skill points are used
NOTE: It is best to keep your Time Keeper equipment and a +7 Metal Bow at this moment due to the mechanics of the Ranger Job Change Quest.
Getting to Turtle Island
- First, go to Alberta and head to /navi alberta_in 23/104. Enter the building and go to the room on the right. Talk to Turtle Grandpa and ask him, ‘How to go to turtle Island’.
- After asking Turtle Grandpa, go to coordinates /navi alberta 244/118. Then, talk to Sailor (Gotanblue) and ask him, ‘How do I get to Turtle Island?’.
- To access Turtle Island, you’ll need to pay him 10,000 Zeny, after which he’ll teleport you there.
Phase 1: Hunting Quest
- Once you arrive at Turtle Island, head to coordinates /navi tur_dun01 154/40 (just South of landing point) and speak with the Survival Instructor (Rescue).
- After speaking with the Survival Instructor, he will teleport you back to Alberta to reset your weight to 0. You can then either sell your items or store them in your storage.
Note that if you still have potions from the New User Box, you will be forced to use them before speaking to the NPC Survival Instructor again.
NOTE: You can carry other items as long as their weight is 0. Time Keeper equipment from the New User Box and a Metal Bow refined to +7 would be particularly useful for this quest. Shadow gears and costumes also have 0 weight, so if you have useful shadows and enchants, they can be beneficial as well. - After you’ve reduced your weight to 0, return to Turtle Island and speak with the Survival Instructor again. He will provide you with a bow, 500 arrows and 10 [Not for Sale] Novice Fly Wing to use.
- Next, head North-West to tur_dun 91/16 and speak with the Test Instructor Teadr. He will request that you kill
1 Dragonflyand obtain1 Wing of Dragonfly.
Note: Dragonflies are located within the map. You may need to kill several Dragonflies before obtaining its Wing. - Upon completing your task for Test Instructor Teardrop, return to him. Check that you do not have unnecessary loots that add to your weight. He will briefly explain the upcoming tests, give you 100 arrows and warp you to the waiting area.
Phase 2: Accuracy Test
In the waiting area, click on the chat room and wait if there are other Ranger applicants ahead of you.
When it’s your turn, he will teleport you to an area with 9 platforms.
The first test is to assess how keen your eyes are.
Variants of Porings will spawn in the 8 islands around you, and you must hit the correct Poring monster before the round ends in 5 seconds. You get a mark for a correct answer, and a deduction if you kill the incorrect Poring. You need at least 15 out of 20 points to pass this test.
To identify the correct Poring to attack, refer to the name of the monster that spawns on Island 2 (North or 12 o’clock direction of the map). Refer to the table or infographic below and attack the corresponding monster that spawns on that island/direction relative to your center position.
E.g., if the name of the monster that spawns at North/ 12 o’clock direction/ Island 2 is called “Poporing”, attack the monster to your East/ Island 6.
| Name of Poring Variant at North/ 12 o’clock Direction | Direction of Poring to attack |
|---|---|
| Poring | Attack the same Poring in the same direction. |
| Podaegi | Northeast (↗) |
| Poporing | East (→) |
| Poja | Southeast (↘) |
| Pororing | South (↓) |
| Drops | Southwest (↙) |
| Hoing | West (←) |
| Poing | Northwest (↖) |

Phase 3: Trapping Test
- After successfully completing the accuracy test, you will be transported to another room where you’ll need to deliver reports for approval by going through a route filled with plant monsters. The second test is on how efficiently you can use traps and perform a mission. You must accomplish this task within 3 minutes. Note that the report files will increase your weight to 90%, rendering you unable to attack or use skills.

- Upon speaking to Staff Rust, he will furnish you with ‘Reports to be Approved’, 100 Novice Potions, and 10 Bombring Capsules. Although it’s not mandatory to defeat all Plant Race Mobs, you must consume all 10 Bombring Capsules.
Tip: Focus on defeating the Nepenthes first before continuing. You can do this by using a Bombring Capsule. Be cautious when using Bombring Capsules near a Drosera, as they can use the skill Close Confine. If a Drosera traps you with Close Confine while a Bombring is nearby, it will result in failure.
Put the Bombring Capsule and Novice Potion on hotkey for easier access.
Additional Tips:
1) For this task, it is recommended NOT to speak to Staff Rust at the start.
2) Instead, start walking and kill plant monsters from afar to secure a safer path to the end point.
3) Be careful of your remaining HP, SP and the remaining time left.
4) When satisfied, return to Staff Rust to replenish your HP and obtain the report files, use up the Bombring Capsules while walking to Test Supervisor Kowsyun at the end point.
Extra tip: Not all plant monsters need to be killed. You can focus on mobs (which reduce your flee) or higher level monsters (e.g. Nepenthes which deal high damage quickly). You can use FAS, double strafe or normal attack depending on the monster HP. Lower level monsters may not be able to hit you if you have enough flee. - Test Supervisor Kowsyun will remind you when 1 minute and 2 minutes have passed.
- Use up all 10 Bombring Capsule and stand next to Test Supervisor Kowsyun within the time limit. She will notify you of your test success and direct you to move on to the next stage.
Phase 4: Wolf Companion
The third test is to assess how well can handle an animal, as you will need to handle a wolf when you become a Ranger.
- In this test, approach Test Supervisor Freeze and engage in conversation. Upon doing so, he will furnish you with a Job Change Flute.
- Use the Job Change Flute to summon a Baby Desert Wolf companion.
- To initiate the test, speak with Test Supervisor Freeze once more. You will be under stone curse and unable to move.
- In this trial, your objective is to command the Baby Desert Wolf to attack the Bomb Egg that appears on the map one after another.
- You must destroy at least 10 Bomb Eggs out of 20 to pass this test.
- Control the Baby Desert Wolf by pressing the ALT key on the keyboard and simultaneously clicking the left mouse button.
Tip: This Baby Desert Wolf behaves similarly to a real-life puppy. If you click more than 3 cells away from the Baby Desert Wolf to your intended location, it may act erratically and move in different directions, much like an annoying puppy.
To address this issue, ensure you click 2-3 cells away from the Baby Desert Wolf to your desired destination or the Bomb Egg. Additionally, remember to continuously left click to prevent it from straying off course.
- Once the timer expires and you’ve obtained at least 10 points out of 20, you will pass the test and proceed to the next room.
Final Phase
- In this phase, after teleporting to the next room, you will converse with Master Ranger Neveragain. Ensure that you have removed your falcon and utilized all of your skill points.
- He will verify if you truly wish to transition your Sniper to a Ranger.
- Simply continue conversing with him and express your desire to become a Ranger.
- You will be rewarded with a Sniper Goggles, Green Apple Ring and Wolf Flute.
Congratulations! You are now a Ranger!
