Introduction
Fall of Glast Heim (FoGH) is one of the instances of the EDDA, a series of quests and instances which follows the different stories and lore throughout Rune Midgard. For this particular quest, it reveals the death and corruption of the late King Schmidt, which later on caused the downfall of the capital. Partake in the story pre-quest before gaining access to the daily memorial dungeon, where you may farm, craft and enchant various equipment.
Requirements
- Base Level: 130 (Pre-Quest and Normal Mode) / 170 (Hard Mode)
- Party Size:
1 (Solo) for Prequest/Scenario
, 1+ for Normal / Hard Mode - Instance Cooldown: Resets 4am daily (Normal Mode) / every three (3) days (Hard Mode)
- Time Limit: 60 minutes
- Quest Rewards: Access to Fall of Glast Heim Instances (Normal / Hard Mode), able to craft, disassemble and enchant King Schmidt’s Suit/Manteau/Insignia
- Item Rewards:
Cursed-eroded Crystal (FoGH Normal) /
Cursed-eroded Gemstone (FoGH Hard)
You can only enter one difficulty per day: either Hard or Normal.
Once you enter Hard mode, you won't be able to enter Normal mode on the same day.
In Normal mode, you can purchase and enchant the King Schmidt’s Suit and Manteau. Hard mode, on the other hand, is focused on acquiring the six King Schmidt’s Insignias, which are accessory items.
Pre-Quest/Scenario
1. Find and speak to Oscar at /navi glast_01 241/290. He introduces himself as a Dimension-Traveler, and wishes to show you his favorite point in time which happened in Glast Heim. Create a solo party, and then talk to him again to generate and enter the Pre-Quest instance.

2. Upon entering, talk to Varmundt Illusion. He talks about Himmelmez’s curse that’s spreading throughout the castle, and advises King Schmidt to turn back, but the king refuses and wishes to explore further.

3. After the dialogue, you will be accompanied by King Schmidt (Mercenary). You may set him to passive mode or have him kill the monsters that spawn later on (helpful to players with low DPS). It is important to keep him alive throughout the Pre-Quest. If the mercenary dies the first time, you will not be able to proceed through a gate in the middle of the map, and will need to return to Varmundt Illusion to acquire him again. If the mercenary dies a second time though, the gate will make you proceed regardless.

4. Walk down the flight of steps to your left, and you will see Oscar. Speak to him before proceeding.

5. Continue down the steps and then walk a bit North until you find King Schmidt. Talk to him, and when you ask him to turn back, he still wishes to push through.

6. While traversing towards the North, you will now be required to find and interact with Surviving Knight NPCs (minimum of 6), and have them leave the area.

Some of these Knights may start attacking you; simply defeat them and proceed.

Along the way, you will also find fallen NPCs on the ground. Approaching them will summon Arclouse-like monsters (similar mechanic to Old Glast Heim) which you will need to eliminate.

7. On your way to the North, you will see a Gate. Interact with it, and King Schmidt will break it down in order for you to proceed.

8. Once on the other side, head North, speak to King Schmidt, and then continue walking until you ascend up some steps. Approach the end, and you will meet Heinrich and some knights.

9. Speak to Heinrich who reveals the curse is coming from Himmelmez’s orb, and urges King Schmidt to turn back.
10. Talk to Varmundt afterwards. He scolds Schmidt and eventually leaves, saying that he will deal with the orb.

11. Speak to King Schmidt who asks Heinrich where Varmundt has gone to.
12. After the exchange, Oscar appears. Talk to him, and he will ask you if you wish to proceed or leave. Choosing to continue will warp you to the next area of the instance.

13. After warping into the next area, watch the cutscene where Varmundt tries to subdue the orb’s powers. King Schmidt and Heinrich appear soon after and they have an exchange of dialogue with Varmundt.

14. Once they have finished speaking, talk to Varmundt who gives more information about the orb’s properties, and plans to use his life force as sacrifice to destroy the orb. He, Schmidt and Heinrich argue about the decision as the orb continues to expand its power. Schmidt decides to rush at the orb instead.

15. After Schmidt is absorbed by the orb, speak to Varmundt. He wishes to cast a spell to help lessen the pain Schmidt is experiencing. An announcement from Schmidt will appear. Varmundt and Heinrich leave soon after.

16. You will be warped into a new area after this cutscene. Speak to Oscar who rewards you with some EXP and warps you out of the Pre-Quest instance.

17. Once outside, speak to Oscar, who gives an epilogue of what happened after the incident with the orb, as well as introduces you to his magical OSC vending machine NPCs (for crafting, disassembling and enchanting equipment) to his north. At this point, the Fall of Glast Heim Normal and Hard Modes are now available.

Instance Proper
1. After finishing the Pre-Quest, talk to Oscar to generate and enter the Fall of Glast Heim instance. You can choose to run either Normal or Hard, but do note that only one mode is available per day, regardless of difficulty.

TIP: Having access to Freeze-Immunity (ex: Marc Card armor), Endure effect (ex: Bearer Shadow Set) and/or magic resistance (ex: High MDEF gear or Golden Thief Bug Card shield) will help while traversing through the first few rooms of the instance.
2. Your character starts at the old kitchen area of Glast Heim once you are warped inside the instance. Eliminate the Fallen Maids while avoiding the Cursed Flames (similar to Entweihen Crothen’s thorn mobs in Endless Tower). After which, a message will appear and you will be warped into the next area.

3. Speak to Oscar, who says the room was once the area where Knights on shift took breaks. Similar to the first room, eliminate Khalitzburg Knights and Shadow Guard Captains while avoiding the Cursed Flames. After some time, another message will appear and you will be warped into the next area.

4. You are brought into the sleeping quarters / dining room. Speak to Oscar again, and eliminate the Cursed Knights and Shadow Guard Captains while avoiding the Cursed Flames. After enough are killed, a message will appear and you will be warped into the next area.

5. Once inside, talk to Oscar. He mentions the area was once the military library used by senior commanders. Eliminate the Cursed Knights, Khalitzburg Knights and Shadow Guard Captains that spawn inside, while avoiding the Cursed Flames. After which, Oscar announces he will bring you to the last room where King Schmidt’s thoughts may be wandering.

6. After warping into the next area, proceed North and talk to Oscar. After he finishes talking, Cursed King Schmidt will start attacking. Defeat him in order to proceed. Take note of the various boss mechanics for the fight below.

Included in EDDA: Fall of Glast Heim Instance is the room-wide floor mechanic, wherein rows of purple flaming tiles will move vertically or horizontally throughout the entire room, making it challenging for players to stay in one position.

These tiles will have a gap between each one where players can safely pass through. Standing on a flame tile or getting hit by an approaching tile will deal damage to the players in quick intervals (can be blocked with barrier skills like Kyrie Eleison). Oscar will sometimes appear in the central area of the room to temporarily hold the current flame tiles in place. Keep in mind that the player doing this pause mechanic will not be allowed to move or take damage for a few seconds until the casting is finished. Otherwise, the attempt will be cancelled and they will need to talk to the NPC once again.

Every few minutes or so once King Schmidt has taken some amount of damage, a prompt will say to approach some auras of light (which will spawn at the North, South, West and East of the central area of the boss room).

Approaching all four of them will help weaken King Schmidts and render him unable to attack, providing an additional DPS window for players.

Besides these boss fight mechanics, King Schmidt has different skills in his arsenal which make him a challenging instance boss for some players. While he is in his “Attacking” behavior (aka standing still and dealing normal attacks to the players), he has a 50% chance of casting Full Heal on himself, negating all damage players were able to deal to him at that point. This Full Heal will be put on a two-minute cooldown, allowing players to burst their damage during that period. When his HP also falls under 60%, he will start casting Heal from Damage on himself, making him recover some health if he is being damaged by players. An Archbishop will be required to have Clearance ready to remove this buff on him.

He is also able to cast Dispel on players, so keep that in mind especially to classes who are reliant on specific buffs to function properly. Global Death Grip allows him to quickly pull players close to him, and Dragon Fear can sometimes cause Chaos status ailment on players, making them move uncontrollably if not remedied immediately. Besides these, he is also able to cast various hard-hitting skills such as Grand Cross, Dark Cross, Ignition Break, Critical Slash, Earthquake and Genesis Ray.

7. After defeating Cursed King Schmidt, speak to Oscar and you will be rewarded with either 3x Cursed-eroded Crystal for Normal Mode, or 6x
Cursed-eroded Gemstone Gemstone for Hard Mode. You may choose to stay and explore a bit more, or to leave the instance.
