Introduction
Old Glast Heim: Challenge Mode (OGH:CM for short) is a memorial dungeon themed around the already released Old Glast Heim instance. The increased difficulty and unique mechanics make it a challenging yet rewarding instance to run. Players who wish to run OGH:CM are given the chance to obtain potential meta gear such as the Royal Weapons and Temporal Circlets, as well as the cards that come along with them. This guide aims to help players in learning about the monsters, mechanics and items this memorial dungeon has to offer.

Create a party and speak to Oscar at /navi glast_01 143/288. He talks about the dimension he discovered where Varmundt and Heinrich didn’t exist and Himmelmez succeeds in her attack on Glast Heim. Choosing the “Let me help you” option will grant you access to the instance. Speak to him to generate the instance for you, and once it is ready, speak to him again to enter.

Difficulty Level
Players are able to select the Difficulty Level (DLv) of the memorial dungeon, granting monsters more HP and damage, in exchange for better rewards. Starting at DLv1 by default, players are required to clear lower levels before unlocking and selecting higher DLvs for future runs.

Players may also view their clear count progress through the Achievements Window. Find the Memorial tab at the left column of the window to view it.

Mechanics which scale with difficulty level:
- All Monsters Increased Damage
- Boss Monster Increased Max HP
- Mutated Thorn Increased HP
- Prime Corruption Roots Spawned
- Boss HP Regen per 2-Second Mechanic
- Additional Mechanics (such as Max Pain and Grim Reaper) during Boss Fight
- Increased Number of Rewards
Do note that clear progression is character-bound, and that the DLv will not affect the number for clears. For example, you can run OGH:CM with DLv1 26 times to unlock DLv5, and DLv1 100 times to unlock DLv10.
Instance Proper

1. Once the party enters the instance, have the party leader speak to Oscar to assign the Difficulty Level.

2. After the conversation with Oscar ends, the party will be split randomly between the left and right wings of the map, which are then filled with 50 monsters on each side. At least 47 out of the 50 monsters need to be killed in order to unlock the portal to leave the area.

2a. If one group’s side has already triggered the portal mechanic while the other side’s monsters have not yet been cleared, entering the portal will lead towards the other side for the first group to help clear the second group’s area. Watch out for Oscar’s announcement to show which side still needs help clearing.

2b. If one side’s group has less DPS compared to the other (ex: mostly full supports or tanks), it is advised to have them stay put while the other group clears their own area first, so they can help with clearing theirs.
3. When all monsters on one side have been defeated, there is a chance that Oscar will shout an announcement. A Prime Corruption Root will then spawn in the middle corridor, and the group will need to kill it within 30 seconds. Failure to do so will cause instant death to all members within a 15×15 AoE around Prime Corruption Root, before Oscar eliminates it himself.

3a. The number of Prime Corruption Roots spawned will depend on the selected DLv of the memorial dungeon: one (1) at DLv1+, one to two (1-2) or more at DLv4+, and one to a max of five (1-5) at DLv10.
3b. It is advised that both left and right groups of the party clear their respective areas at roughly the same time, so as to reach the middle corridor as one whole party and defeat the Prime Corruption Root(s) with ease.
4. After clearing both sides and leaving the portal, as well as eliminating any Prime Corruption Roots which spawn, have the party leader speak to Oscar at the northern part of the Middle Corridor. He will open a portal which leads to the Boss Fight Area (BFA).

5. Once in the BFA, the party will face Phantom Amdarais (or Phantom Himmelmez with a 5%~10% chance to summon her instead). Various skills and mechanics will take effect during the fight; read further down for more information.

6. Defeating either boss will spawn a treasure chest in the middle of the BFA. Interacting with it will drop various items on the floor, with their quantities scaling with DLv. Oscar will also appear after eliminating the boss, and will reward each member with Sealed Circlets of Time depending on their performance. Once finished, speak to him again to leave the instance.

Challenge Mode’s Skills and Mechanics
DLv 1 and Higher Skills / Mechanics | |
Party Counter | Oscar records the number of players currently inside the instance before Difficulty Level is selected. While inside, if any member logs out, dies, stays too far or enters the instance late, the MVP will only take 1 damage from all attacks. This effect disappears when all party members inside the instance are alive again. |
Restart | The MVP will despawn if all party members fall incapacitated for more than 5 minutes. Oscar will appear soon after. Speak to him to summon the MVP once again. |
Fighting Arena | The Boss Fight Area (BFA) is the location where players can fight the MVP. If the boss moves too far from the center, an announcement will be broadcasted where the battle will reset if the MVP isn’t brought back to the BFA (within Thorn Grid Grand Darkness) after 30 seconds. |
HP Regeneration | The MVP regains HP equivalent to (300,000 x DLv) every 2 seconds. |
Damaged Healing | After dealing damage to the MVP, it will heal around 60% of the damage it has received roughly 1 second later. |
Random Teleport | After receiving burst damage in a short period of time, the MVP will scatter all party members, randomly teleporting them onto different spots within the BFA. |
Firewall | Summons Firewalls in an incremental X-Pattern that will knock players back. Nullified with Magnetic Earth. |
Ground Drive | The MVP casts onto its own cell the skill Heaven’s Drive, which spreads in an incremental cross pattern. Has another version where a square pattern is also casted before the cross pattern. Nullified with Magnetic Earth. |
Immune to Property | The MVP gains immunity to a specific elemental property for 30 seconds: Holy for Phantom Amdarais, Shadow for Phantom Himmelmez. Nullified with Clearance. |
Thorn Grid Grand Darkness | The MVP will summon Mutated Thorns in a grid-like formation once its HP drops below 90%. After 5 seconds, all thorns that are not eliminated will disappear and cast Grand Darkness for 10 seconds. Nullified with Shadow-property armor, or can eliminate one Thorn and move to its location to avoid the surrounding Grand Darkness. |
Amdarais Grand Darkness | Phantom Amdarais will cast Grand Darkness that will follow him around. |
Himmelmez Grand Cross | Phantom Himmelmez will cast Grand Cross that will follow her around. |
Rain of Meteor | Calls forth meteors to land onto the center of the MVP, which then spreads in either an X or cross pattern, dealing Fire-property magic damage to players. Nullified with Magnetic Earth. |
Demonic Hell Judgement | Deals Shadow-property DEF-piercing physical damage in a 13×13 AoE and inflicts a random status effect. |
Wide Confusion | Inflicts Confusion status ailment in a large AoE centered around the MVP. Nullified with Cure, Green Potion or Panacea. |
Ganbantein | Instantly removes all ground spells (including cells of Magnetic Earth) in a 9×9 AoE around the MVP. |
Shield Reflect | Reflects a portion of all physical melee damage back to the user. Nullified with Dispel. |
Change Element | Changes the MVP’s elemental property: From Shadow to Undead for Phantom Amdarais and from Holy to Shadow for Phantom Himmelmez. |
Spawn Mutated Mobs | When the MVP’s HP goes below a certain point, it will have a chance to summon some monsters within the BFA: – Mutated Khalitzburgs at <70% HP – Mutated White Knights at <50% HP – Mutated Raydric Archer at <30% HP |
DLv 3 and Higher Skills / Mechanics | |
Max Pain | Once the MVP’s HP reaches below 70%, it will change into a golden color, and return damage based on all the damage it has received back to all players on screen. Nullified by Safety Wall, which completely breaks after taking one hit of Max Pain damage. |
Grim Reaper | An NPC with Reaper Ankou sprite will spawn and walk slowly towards the MVP. After it reaches the MVP, the boss’ HP Regeneration Mechanic amount will be reduced by 50,000 HP per 2 seconds, while its attack will increase. This effect can stack. |
DLv 9 and Higher Skills / Mechanics | |
Gradual Gravity | The MVP casts a debuff that will drain players’ HP by a certain percentage per second. |
Circle Arena | In a random spot inside the BFA, a blue circular visual effect will appear. Players will need to lure the MVP inside the circle within 1 minute, else it will enrage and start dealing more damage. |
Rewards
After defeating the final boss, a treasure chest will appear in the middle of the BFA. After clicking on it, various loots will drop on the floor. Quantity will depend on the DLv selected for the run.

As mentioned, Oscar will reward Sealed Circlets of Time to players – one (1) for each of the successful tasks:
- Defeat either Phantom Amdarais or Phantom Himmelmez
- Defeat all Prime Corruption Roots before Oscar eliminates them himself
- Defeat either Phantom Amdarais or Phantom Himmelmez without triggering the enrage mechanic (DLv9+) or any restarts
These aside, monsters will generally drop some of the aforementioned materials:
- Normal monsters will drop Temporal Fragment
- Prime Corruption Root can drop Temporal Gemstone
- Bosses can drop Sealed Circlet of Time
- In addition, all monsters can drop their respective monster cards
OGH CM Vending Machines
Similar to the vending machines in EDDA: Fall of Glast Heim, Oscar will have special vending machines available for OGH: Challenge Mode. Each one will have different functions which the players can utilize.
HUGINN2001: Temporal Circlet and Mutated Cards

Players who are able to obtain at least five (5) pieces of Sealed Circlet of Time can choose to exchange them for Temporal Circlets, which are class-specific headgears exclusive to this content.
They may also exchange other Temporal materials for Mutated Cards, specifically Mutated White Knight and Mutated Khalitzburg Cards (the magic counterparts of the White Knight and Khalitzburg Knight Cards).

MUNNIN2003: Guardian Knight and Royal Weapons

Introduced in this memorial dungeon are the Guardian Knight and Royal Weapons, which can be exchanged through this vending machine. These Lv4 Weapons can only be equipped by characters that are at least Lv170, and contain additional set bonuses when wearing the King Schmidt’s Suit and
Manteau from EDDA: Fall of Glast Heim. You may exchange one weapon for 10
Temporal Spells (selective weapon) or 2
Temporal Gemstones + 10
Temporal Fragments (random weapon).
OSC0005: Enchanting Temporal Circlets

Temporal Circlets that are crafted from the HUGINN2001 vending machine can be enchanted through this OSC0005 vending machine. Enchants are random, starting from 4th slot going to 3rd slot, but have a guaranteed 100% success rate. Players who are not satisfied with their enchants may choose to reset them at the cost of 2 Nyangvine Fruits (100% success chance) or 500,000z Zeny (70% success chance, item is broken and lost upon failed attempt). Refer to the table below for the enchant cost per slot and which enchants can be obtained:

The special enchants in the 2nd slot (Mettle, Magic Essence, Master Archer, Adamantine, Affection and Acute) are similar to those of Old Biolab headgear’s enchants from Biolab 5F. Once players are able to obtain them, they may continue to enchant them to increase their special enchant level. Failure will not break the headgear, and instead lower the special enchant’s level by one stage (lowest possible is Lv1).
