INTRODUCTION
Soul Destroyer is arguably the most iconic skill of the transcendent Assassin Cross class in Ragnarok Online. It transformed the class from a melee-range Sonic Blow spammer into a long-range, single-target powerhouse. Even today, despite the rise of 3rd job skills like Cross Impact that dominate with raw burst and aggression, Soul Destroyer still holds its ground in terms of damage, convenience, and range.
SKILL BUILD

You decide where to put the remaining skill points. We put some on Weapon Crush just to open the option of wearing a Dark Ring [1] and some points on Weapon Blocking to secure the requirements needed in the future (a.k.a 4th Job). Some players who aren’t concerned about the duration of their Enchant Deadly Poison can reduce the amount of points allocated to New Poison Research.
EQUIPMENT
Personally, I am not a fan of making a ragtag version of this setup since the build’s effectiveness suffers if you remove the core items. ASPD, Cast Speed, After Cast Delay Reduction, Critical Damage, Critical Rate, Long Range Damage, and Defense Penetration should not be compromised.
UPPER
| Currently the best in slot as it gives tremendous Soul Destroyer Damage and 0.1s cooldown reduction that allows the user to cast the skill 7 times per second on top of multitude of bonuses when worn with: | |
| Decent option as long as you have | |
| Great all-around damage item that provides various additional effects. Works well with | |
| Decent source of Critical Rate, Critical Damage, and Fixed Cast Time Reduction but damage-wise, not so much. | |
| Only wear this if the above options are not available. Great source of ACD Reduction, Range Damage, and ASPD. |
MIDDLE
| Also available as [0]. Currently the best in slot since it has everything (except for ACD Reduction) that you need ranging from flat ATK bonus, ASPD, Boss Damage, Critical Rate and Critical Damage. | |
| Decent source of ACD, ATK, Elemental ATK, Range Damage, and HP/SP leech that can be utilized by Soul Destroyer since it is now categorized purely as Long Range ATK. | |
| Only provides ATK and Critical Damage. | |
| Provides everything that you need but in small increments. Not great but decent enough to be considered among other options. | |
| If you are planning on using this, make sure to also wear a | |
| Only the slotted version is viable since we are only considering this option as long as it is slotted with a | |
| Works well only when worn with a | |
| Alone, gives a respectable amount of ACD redux and a card slot that can be maximized for utility or more damage. Combine it with |
LOWER
| Always a candidate for best in slot due to its combo effects with various cards and essences. | |
| Size damage from base INT and STR? Not bad since the build invests a lot of points in both stats. | |
| Same as Lord of Royals but does not require any stat investment. | |
| Similar to Lord of Royals but gives size damage per 10 base levels. | |
| Similar to Lord of Royals but requires STR and LUK which the build also has. | |
| Great option when paired with: | |
| Great source of ACD reduction. | |
| Great source of ACD reduction. |
WEAPON
| These 3 are must haves to complete the EDDA combo with | |
| Best Katar option if you need ACD reduction. Gets additional boost when paired with | |
| Strong candidate for Best in Slot but lags behind in terms of Soul Destroyer damage and Critical Rate. Damage-wise, this should be one of the top candidates but you have to find a way to get enough ASPD and Critical Rate to justify the use of this weapon. | |
| Has the ASPD, Critical Rate but lacks the damage to compete against the other options on the list. Auto-casting can be useful in the future when Soul Destroyer gets a cooldown nerf but the Zodiac set kind of offsets that due to its innate cooldown reduction. | |
| Card slots and Critical Damage per refine level are hard to pass up. This old reliable weapon can function as your offhand to carry the necessary cards the build needs. |
ARMOR
| Alone it gives Critical Rate, Critical Damage, LUK, Size damage and a small FCT reduction. Works well with | |
| The armor alone provides great amount of LUK, Critical Rate, and Critical Damage. Combine it with | |
| Range Damage, ASPD, HP/SP leech, and access to | |
| The base stats alone provide a great amount of ATK. When enhanced with the right modules, the ATK nearly doubles, and it also provides a significant amount of ACD reduction. Honestly, I’m almost tempted to call it best-in-slot. What’s even better? This armor is virtually free, as the materials needed to craft it are already provided by the Episode 17.1 quest line. | |
| Provides armor penetration against Undead, Demon, and Demi-Human enemies, scaling with refinement level. Can be enchanted twice to further boost damage. Best paired with | |
| When the race and element align, these dresses can dish out insane damage! No card slot? No problem! Each one has its own element, providing protection against the perfect targets! |
GARMENT
| This episode 17.1 garments will give you everything that you need since they can be enchanted with: and can be partnered with | |
| Provides massive boosts to ATK, Melee and Ranged Damage, and Elemental Damage, on top of the Perfect Hit it grants. Pair it with | |
| Great source of Critical Rate and Critical Damage. | |
| An all-around great garment that provides Class Damage, Critical Damage, ACD Reduction, DEF and MDEF. The FCT% reduction is good to have in case you don’t have access to 0.3 FCT reduction. If you want to fully utilize this garment, 600 total stats might be a bit difficult but not impossible. | |
| Enchant this with ACD Reduction then you’ll get a garment that gives Critical Rate, Critical Damage , ASPD, Defense Penetration vs Beast and Demon Race. |
SHOES
| Great source of HP/SP, ACD, and Class Damage. | |
| Best in slot right now, because it functions as an integral part of the EDDA set. The boots alone provides, raw ATK, ACD Reduction, Soul Destroyer Damage, and FCT Reduction. Wear it with | |
| Provides HP, ATK, and a bulk of ACD Reduction in case your build is really lacking in that department. Pair it with | |
| A good source of ACD Reduction. Pair it with |
ACCESSORIES
| Great source of ACD Reduction, ATK, STR/AGI/DEX, and ASPD. Make sure to align your skill build to fully unlock the bonuses. | |
| Great source of Defense Penetration, ATK, and Critical Damage. This accessory is more popular for Cross Impact but Soul Destroyer also benefits from almost everything this item provides. | |
| Great source of Critical Rate and Critical Damage. | |
| Good source of Defense Penetration and stat bonuses. |
COSTUME STONES
SHADOWS
| Only wear these accessories if both of them are +10 to get the most out of set. The set provides elemental damage boost, melee/range damage boost, on top of knockback immunity and HP bonus. | |
| Only wear these shadows if both are +10 to maximize the set’s potential. The set grants an elemental damage boost, melee/range damage boost, knockback immunity, and an HP bonus! | |
| Only wear this set if the total of its parts is +18 or higher. Consider equipping it if your current gear doesn’t provide armor penetration. | |
| Only wear this set if the total of its parts is +18 or higher. Consider equipping it if your current gear doesn’t provide armor penetration. | |
| Consider using this shadow as it provides great amount of damage, ASPD, and ACD reduction. | |
| If your setup already provides armor penetration, consider using this shadow instead. It offers additional ASPD, damage, and even more offensive boosts. | |
| If you need more defense penetration, consider using this combo. Katar Shadow also provides Critical Damage and Size Damage. |
CARDS
SAMPLE BUILD
Ideally, you should have 193 ASPD, almost insta-cast through stats with 0.3 FCT Reduction, 90%+ ACD Reduction, 200+ Critical Rate, and 100% Defense Penetration.
Personally, my build is flexible enough to play Cross Impact and Soul Destroyer but it is also possible to spec your character as pure Soul Destroyer Build. At most, you can have 2 stats at 120 without compromising your survivability and ASPD.
SOUL DESTROYER BUILD
| STR: 90~120 | Invest 120 points in INT if you want more damage and cast speed. |
| AGI: 90 | Can be lower or higher depending on how hard it is to reach 193 ASPD. |
| VIT: 80~90 | Improves your survivability. You can invest as high as you want once you reach the necessary ASPD, Cast Speed, and other stat requirements for equipment. |
| INT: 87~120 | Invest 120 points in INT if you want more damage and cast speed. |
| DEX: 90~120 | Invest 120 points in DEX if you plan on maximizing 90 DEX is decent enough to get to almost instacast territory. |
| LUK: 120 |
